Optica Delusions

Written by Paula Rosen & Joshua Morris
Music and Lyrics by Paula Rosen

Optica Delusions is a lighthearted musical that was shortlisted at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2010 and 2011.

Iris is a Right-Eyed princess who sees beyond the horizons of her palace in the Kingdom of Right. Seymour, a Left-Eyed prince, also wants to expand his view past his cloistered existence in Leftenbourg. When fate brings them together, they see eye-to-eye despite their different perspectives. But can their interocular relationship stop a war and bring down the walls that separate their communities?

Musical Excerpts from Optica Delusions

A matchmaker presents suitors to Iris, who would rather do crossword puzzles.

King Left-Eye and Queen Irene make the sad realization that Seymour and Iris have both run away.

Reverend Sym A. Tree and the company celebrate re-unification of the two kingdoms.

Play Therapy

Book, Music and Lyrics by Paula Rosen

Play Therapy is a musical comedy that was shortlisted at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2012.

Shakespeare, haunted by difficulties in his life’s work, wants “therapy” for his plays. He has been guided – or misguided! – to seek out the aide of Bernice, a “play therapist” whose work with small children may not be ideal training for the case. Play Therapy chronicles a chaotic but comical therapy session for Shakespeare and the motley crew of disgruntled characters that accompanies him.

Musical Excerpts from Play Therapy

Bernice's risk-averse friend Leo surprises her with news that he is going skydiving.

Bernice wonders if she needs more in her life than just her profession.

When Leo panics about parachuting, Bernice and company bolster his confidence.
